Fall Planting 2010
October 23,2010

Fall is a great time to get outside and do a little planting.  Remember the summers? Here is a idea that consists of Aloe (low), Lantana (medium) and Bougainvillea (high).  All of these are low water plants and when left to naturalize like this they make a great combination.  There is minimal maintenance as they do not require trimming if planted in a open space location…….so you can hide inside from yard work during the hot summers…….lots of color.

You can obtain the aloe from most of your neighbors…..just “ask” for the pups that sprout from the bottom, plant close for ground cover and no weeding, The lantana is now seeding and the little black seeds can also be found all over the neighborhood, careful they are not the palm seeds which look similar.  If left to naturalize they and the bougainvillea will also cover any weeds that try to emerge, leave the dead leaves for cover and mulch.

Enjoy the weather......
